As part of the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation’s TEAM UP youth mentoring initiative and EuroLeague Basketball’s ONE TEAM initiative, members of the Real Madrid basketball team will make a special appearance at the Grizzlies Preparatory Charter School tomorrow, Friday, October 5 from 12:30-1:30 p.m., prior to the Grizzlies hosting Real Madrid on Saturday. Media is invited to attend.

The hour-long visit will take place at Grizzlies Prep (168 Jefferson Avenue Memphis, TN 38103) where the players will take 25 scholars from Grizzlies Prep’s sixth grade class through basketball drills helping to demonstrate motivation, teamwork and confidence. The visit will conclude with a short discussion and Q&A.

Grizzlies Prep, a public charter school, opened its doors on July 30 of this year with 75 sixth graders. The school receives funding from local, state and federal sources with substantial support coming from the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation. With plans on growing one grade level each year, Grizzlies Prep will have approximately 225 young scholars in grades six through eight in 2015.
