Over Five Dozen New Adults Signed Up in a Fifty Day Period to Mentor Youth

The Grizzlies Foundation recently concluded a summer recruitment campaign to find 50 new adults to mentor youth, primarily in the Grizzlies TEAM Mentoring program. Over 5 dozen heeded the call.

  • Who are they?
Mothers, fathers, entrepreneurs, retirees and all who felt a responsibility and desire to help and inspire youth.

  • Where did they come from and how did they hear about Grizzlies TEAM UP?
From zip codes all over the city of Memphis. While many heard from us at the variety of presentations and speaking events we appeared at, a surprising number learned about us from a coordinated social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter which included 50 Reasons to become a mentor across the 50 day recruitment period.

  • We are grateful to have had social media help in the form of retweets, links and likes from Foundation supporters like Mike Conley, Elliot Perry, the New Memphis Institute, Leadership Memphis, and Memphis Grizzlies PA announcer Rick Trotter among many others!

New mentor training begins Saturday, August 10th with mentoring beginning in September for the 19 teams of 7th and 8th grade students and their mentors. While mentors for these teams are no longer needed, mentoring programs in the Grizzlies Mentoring Alliance always need new mentors! If you would like to find out what opportunities exist that can fit your schedule, please fill out our interest form and the Grizzlies Foundation will contact you.
