TEAM UP thanks Leadership Memphis and the Leadership Academy for outstanding support of mentoring

This season the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation partnered with the Leadership Memphis and Leadership Academy to recruit mentors who will share their experiences and wisdom with youth in Memphis.

These organizations promoted the Grizzlies’ Team Up mentoring campaign within their classes and provided opportunities for the Foundation to recruit mentors.

The Grizzlies Foundation challenged the civic-minded members of these organizations to be advocates for mentoring and using their circles of influence to educate others about the benefits of mentoring a young person.

Through the Action Heroes program, Leadership Memphis class members and alumni recruited more than 60 colleagues and friends who have pledged to become mentors for Memphis children. Since 2006, the Leadership Academy has maintained at least 50 fellows who have mentored youth through Foundation partners.

The Grizzlies Foundation is grateful for the enthusiasm and cooperation shown by these two organizations in helping us match more caring adults with kids who need someone to encourage them. The relationships these adults develop with their mentees help the youth build their confidence to achieve their goals.

There are many young people in Memphis who need a mentor. You can learn more about being a mentor by calling 901-205-TEAM or email mentor@grizzlies.com.
