This season saw the Grizzlies make it to the NBA Western Conference Semi-Finals. This season also saw the Grizzlies Foundation start a TEAM Mentoring program at two charter schools, create a rewards and special opportunities program for all mentors and begin using a new customer relationship management database.
Just as Grizzlies fans are looking forward to the team’s next season, those of us here at the Grizzlies Foundation are looking forward with great interest to see what this next “season” will bring as far as spreading awareness of the need for adults to mentor youth.
The TEAM Mentoring program, piloted this year at two local charter schools, Freedom Prep Academy and at Power Center Academy, featured 15 adults from all over Memphis meeting with 45 students weekly to learn about each other, participate in community service projects and most importantly to develop the trust that comes with a mentoring relationship. Read the recap about this first semester here. In the Fall these programs will double in size; to learn how you could be a TEAM mentor fill out an interest form.
The Grizzlies Foundation also created a special “club” for mentors called TEAMmates. Built for mentors with Grizzlies Foundation non-profit partners, this program is our way of thanking mentors for the time they spend with youth. We seek out tickets, access to special events and host our own social and training events and offer these to mentors. This year the one hundred plus TEAMmates got tickets to several Grizzlies games, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music and the Rock n Soul Museum, the Jon Bon Jovi concert and various trainings and social events through the year. If you are a mentor with a Grizzlies Foundation partner, fill out the online form at the bottom of this link and join the club!
Finally, in order for us to better communicate with prospective and active mentors the Grizzlies Foundation began using Salesforce, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program. Thanks to Memphis-based Cloud for Good which shaped the cloud-based database to our needs and did the grunt work of uploading our data, we are much better positioned to accurately follow all those interested in learning about mentoring from filling out our online interest form, to referring them to programs, and finally continuing the conversation with active mentors.
You can continue the conversation with us too by joining our e-newsletter, emailing us directly , or filling out our mentor interest form. We plan on having a successful “season” this year, so get on board with us and with mentoring youth in Memphis! Go Grizzlies!Share
