The Grizzlies Foundation set out to find 50 new mentors; we nearly doubled that number!
During the summer of 2012, the Grizzlies Foundation launched a campaign in order to recruit 50 new mentors for the Grizzlies TEAM Mentoring program. This campaign was so successful that we nearly doubled this goal by recruiting over 90 new mentors!
These new volunteers and the returning Grizzlies TEAM volunteers will mentor 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. In addition, the response enabled us to secure mentors for Grizzlies Mentoring Alliance programs including Memphis PREP, Youth Villages, Memphis City Schools CONNECT, Grizzlies Prep Lunch Buddies and Girls, Inc.
This campaign could not have been as successful without the help of Grizzlies Foundation partners and organizations that help us bring mentors into the lives of kids. Programs like Leadership Memphis and The Leadership Academy promoted this campaign to all their class members and alumni resulting in presentations to dozens of groups and businesses.
Additionally, support from organizations like Duncan-Williams, Inc., Smith & Nephew, Medtronic, First Tennessee, and City Leadership greatly helped this campaign. Partnerships with these organizations will continue to help us give young people access to caring adult mentors.
