On April 9, the volunteers of the Grizzlies Charitable Foundation’s own TEAM Mentoring Program were honored as the Ashley Furniture Mentors of the Game. Thirty mentors are currently serving on ten teams in this widely-acclaimed signature project of the Foundation located at two public charter school sites.

Three adult mentors are matched with teams of nine students and they meet each week to work on skill-building activities and participate in discussions on leadership, citizenship, positive decision-making, health and wellness, and other themes while building strong relationships between mentors and youth.

The teams have also worked together on community service projects and will celebrate the end of the school year with a special event on the main stage at Theatre Memphis. Each team will perform a skit they prepared highlighting their favorite experiences from their mentoring sessions. Material for each weekly activity was developed with the support and assistance of a variety of community partners.

New teams will be forming to expand the program for the new school year beginning in August. These opportunities are limited. More information about becoming involved can be found at the Grizzlies Foundation website.
