On Tuesday, March 13th the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation welcomed Juli Hurdle to the Memphis Grizzlies vs. Los Angeles Lakers game as the Ashley Furniture Mentor of the Game. Congratulations to Juli!

Juli volunteers with the Junior League of Memphis and mentors with Girls, Inc. The Junior League recently accepted Girls, Inc. as a community partner and Juli is one of many Junior League members who have become mentors with Girls, Inc.
“This is my city and I believe in the potential of this city,” Juli said at the game.

She recalled a memorable trip taking 17 girls to the Facing History and Ourselves to the Choosing to Participate exhibit about past instances of discrimination at the Central Library. “That night, going through the exhibit, they were emotional and empathetic. It was a catalyst to forming the relationships.”

Juli is a TEAMmate as well and enjoys attending Grizzlies games and other events. When asked what she would say to others about why they should get involved she said, “It’s so rewarding. You see grades improve and develop lasting relationships.” One girl told her that the women from Junior League treated her like an adult and that she felt good about that.

Speaking about the Junior League’s volunteer mission, Juli said their purpose is to promote volunteerism in Memphis, improve communities and develop the potential of those who are our future leaders and future members of the community.
“We need more mentors,” Juli concluded.
