Member Benefits
Training
Training is offered to program managers on best practices in the field and other issues of concern to youth mentoring. Member groups receive comprehensive materials on mentoring program development and management and the technical assistance required to put these tools to use.
Program Assistance
Memphis Mentoring Partnership staff provide hands-on assistance and guidance in building your mentoring program. Whether starting from scratch or fine-tuning an existing mentoring program, MMP will help you with recruitment, training, management, volunteer policies and procedures, and any other aspect of program implementation and evaluation you need.
Volunteer Recruitment
Volunteer mentors are recruited and referred to qualified members through the outreach efforts, partnerships and recruiting events sponsored by the Grizzlies Foundation, MMP, and other supporting organizations. MMP membership and adherence to program standards based on best practices are required for the Grizzlies Foundation to refer potential volunteers to your mentoring program.
Promotional Support
Member organizations and their mentors benefit from the TEAM UP WITH THE GRIZZLIES campaign, which engages civic organizations, faith-based organizations and the corporate community in youth mentoring. In addition, member groups are sought out to participate in presentations, Grizzlies Mentoring Nights and are regularly included in publications and press materials.
Mentor Incentives
Through the Grizzlies Foundation, MMP members are provided with tools to recognize and reward mentors and to facilitate outings for mentors and mentees. This includes complimentary tickets to Memphis Grizzlies home games and FedExForum events, gift cards and discounts to local restaurants, and free passes to local attractions, movie theatres and special events.
Networking
Membership offers an opportunity to network with other organizations offering youth mentoring and a chance to share resources and knowledge. Quarterly networking breakfast meetings are offered, with other special events taking place at various times throughout the year.
Evaluation Tools
Members will have access to a new web-based tracking and evaluation system that will become a valuable tool for program managers. MentorPRO will help programs track their processes and procedures, the mentoring relationships, and the program’s desired outcomes. The fee for this service is a fraction of the cost of most evaluation plans.
Free Lunch (or at least cookies!)
Volunteer mentors from member organizations are invited to participate in the lunch time or evening “Mentor Enrichment” sessions and hear from guest speakers on a host of topics regarding youth development issues and other concerns that arise in the mentoring relationship.
