Would you give a dollar a day to have a vote in deciding how over $100,000 can help Memphis?

A new fund at the Community Foundation seeks a new generation of change-makers

I attended a rally/kickoff for a new fund housed at the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis called GiVE 365 which seeks to engage a new generation of donors.

The idea is that anyone with the means to give $365 will participate with other donors in voting for a grantmaking theme which will determine how the fund’s money is donated to nonprofits.

The fund’s goal is to have 365 members which will endow it with over $133,000. I signed up as a member and heard recently that the fund has 70 members currently.

I think this is really a unique idea for enabling those of us who don’t have tens of thousands of dollars to donate to participate in not only the spirit but the actual process of philanthropy.

Here are the grantmaking themes in case you were curious:

Innovation in Memphis
Fostering community in Memphis
Sustaining Memphis
Inventing a better Memphis
Learning in Memphis
