What is Grizzlies TEAM Mentoring?

Thinking about mentoring…but you would prefer to mentor with other adults?

Grizzlies TEAM Mentoring is a school-based mentoring program that pairs 3 volunteer mentors with 9 students to form one TEAM. With on-site support from Grizzlies Foundation staff, mentoring teams participate in weekly activities that correspond with the chosen theme for that week. Each mentoring session focuses on different life skills such as team-building, leadership, personal responsibility, civic engagement, financial literacy, personal health and much more.

In addition to the weekly meetings, TEAM Mentors participate in a training workshop prior to starting the program, as well as a follow-up training at the beginning of the second semester. These workshops equip mentors with the resources to enhance facilitation, provide feedback, and ultimately create a more fulfilling mentoring experience.

Mentoring teams also have the opportunity to participate in periodic off-site events, which compliment the mentoring sessions. In the past, teams have done community service projects, toured a history exhibit, performed in a local theatre, and of course seen the Memphis Grizzlies play (and win!) in FedExForum.

Volunteering as a Grizzlies TEAM Mentor is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of 9 youth while building relationships with other volunteer mentors in a supportive school environment.
